Selecting some 2person audio clips, this was supposed to be an easy week, but I worked into the wee hours of the morning for days trying to find some solid audio. It can’t be recognizable (or at least very recognizable), be self contained and understandable, be between only two people, entertaining and had some sort of a gear change. Oh, and no swears. Yikes.
I’m pretty happy with the selects though, in the end.
Here’s my proposed pitches for each clip:
Take 01 (Laughing woman, drunk kiss attempt):
A woman spills into an elevator occupied by a very put together man. She’s distracted and waving goodbye with her purse to her friends as she laughs but then quickly sizes up the handsome guy and drapes herself across him, telling him that she kisses better when she’s sober. The elevator continues downward, and the unperturbed gentlemen sweeps himself out of her grasp in a big flourish-y arc, she is half puckered and eyes closed, only belatedly realizing he’s gone. As he steps out onto his floor, he delivers the last line. The door closes on the period immediately after ‘leave you.’
Take 06 (Look Doc…):
A very soap opera style situation, with a patient sitting on a bed in a gown, and the doctor facing away, fiddling around with an xray we can’t quite see. The patient expresses his concern that it might be the big casino as the doctor pauses in front of a wall mounted xray light table, and then slips the xray into it for both to see. The xray is of a chest, with a big casino lodged in it, tiny lights twinkling and blinking within. Doctor examines it for a moment, then turns and tells him that he won’t know until the biopsy, xray still clearly visible in the shot, blinking away. Panicked reaction from the man.
Take 07 (Philosopher talking like a man):
A serious man in goatee surrounded by books is listening intently to a beautiful young woman. Camera cuts to a shot of just her as she delivers ‘You’re talking like a man.’ line, and when we cut back over her shoulder, the professor is laid out on the desk in a romance novel style pose, stroking his goatee. He rolls off the desk and sweeps around her chair, then whispers over her ear that ‘he is a man….she is a woman’. She twirls out of the chair, and says ‘she wasn’t here to talk about that’, he leans forward and lightly sweeps her cheek, and murmurs ‘my dear….’
Take 03 (Gracious!):
A man and a woman are sitting in the very front of a burlesque show. The man is slack jawed and staring into space. The woman is looking around and then catches her eye onstage as a particularly revealing piece of clothing is removed. Audrey Heburn style take, she brings her glasses down, and then leans in to talk with the smitten man. She looks at him and a long pause grows. She grows annoyed and pokes him (or sweeps her hand infront of him). He reacts, and then falls back into his trance as he replies. She rolls her eyes and leans back to play with her drink, and cast an appraising eye up on stage.
